WebHub Design: 5 Tips to Creating a Winning Business Blog

Getting your company’s word out.
It’s amazing how many companies have blogs, but let them sit for years untouched. Company blogs are meant to communicate important messages to customers. Ignoring them  gives the message that you have nothing to say.

Try it. It’s easy to sign up with Google’s blogger (http://www.google.com/blogger), and don't forget to include a link to your blog from your website so customers can find it. Don’t know what to say? Here are some blogging tips:

  1. Add your website address. Place the URL address and its link at the bottom of your blog article.
  2. Know your audience. Who do you cater to? teenagers? Older adults? Business people? Different audiences are interested in very different things, so make the subject matter and the tone appropriate.
  3. Write short articles. Don’t write a book -- a couple of short, concise paragraphs is perfect.
  4. Write what you know. Brainstorm. Write about common questions your customers ask. Give them facts, guidelines, and tips. Write stories about customer experiences. Tell them what it’s like to do your kind of work. Give them demonstrations. Subject matter is almost endless.
  5. Add a question. You might want to place a question toward the end of your blog article, encouraging people to leave comments. (You can opt to moderate comments.)

Contact us today if you need help with your website! Check us out at webhubdesign.com, or call us at 904-461-8744.

WebHub Design Tips: The 3 Best Places to Improve Your Web Content

Where should you spend the extra time to make your website screaming great?

  1.  Titles -- Make your website tile and headings attention-getters. Your headings are critical. Not only will keyword-infused headings improve your search engine optimization (SEO), headings also infused with action verbs and excitement will entice people to scan further. Take a quick look at your website. How can you make the headings more engaging?
  2. Images -- Are your website images great? Are your images telling your story? Do they support your brand?
  3. Call to Action -- Create a call to action. What do you want your readers to do when they reach your website? Sign up? Purchase? Call you? Ask them to take a specific action. Give readers a direct request, and provide a button or link where they can accomplish it.

WebHub Design Tips: 5 Best E-Marketing Tactics

Face it -- we’re all better at working in our business than marketing it.

E-Marketing doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Doing just a little e-marketing on a regular basis can make all the difference. These five basics make it easy:
    1. Determine how to communicate. The outlet you use depends on your business and customers, but in general, make sure to send e-newsletters, and create Facebook posts. If you want to do more, create a company blog, send out tweets, and post videos on u-tube.
    2. Communicate regularly. Most businesses forget to communicate after a couple of months. But consistency is everything. Keep it coming -- no more than once a week, and no less than once a month.
    3. Share, don’t sell. Make it fun for people to read. Don’t focus on selling -- rather, focus on sharing your enthusiasm. Educate, interact, and make it interesting. Ask yourself whether you would read it.
    4. Know your customers. Understand what your customer is looking for. Realize who will be reading, and write to that audience. Start a dialogue if possible, and look for participation.
    5. Don’t beg or blast. These reek of desperation. Don’t beg for Facebook “likes,” and don’t complain when when people don’t like you. Don’t blast out advertisements -- this will only cause people to un-like you on Facebook and un-subscribe from your  newsletter.
Contact us today if you need help with your website! Check us out at webhubdesign.com, or call us at 904-461-8744 today.

    Blogging -- Make it Easy

Are you blogging? If your response is, "I don't have time and I don't know what to say!" then read on.

Blogging doesn't have to be scary or time consuming. Business blogging is short, to the point, and over quickly. For instance, a restaurant can blog their daily specials. Two lines, and it's done. A gift store can announce some new products. Two sentences. Nothing fancy. EASY.

To transform a good blog into a great one, include the following::

    1. A Grabber of a Headline / Title -- this is essential. Make your title grab the reader. How? Make it short, and include an action verb.
    2. Image -- Include an image with your communication.
    3. Call to action -- create a call to action toward the end of your communication -- "Call today," "stop by," "call for free consultation," etc.
    4. Link -- Include a link back to your website.
Call WebHub Design if you need help setting up your blog, or even if you need some help creating content. Call 904-461-8744 or check out our website at webhubdesign.com

      Inject Subtle Excitement to Websites

How can you make your website more exciting? Add multimedia. Slideshows, zoom-up photo galleries, and videos will make your site move and flow and come alive. The trick is to keep it subtle. In other words, don't assault your viewers with loud rap music and automatic video.
      • Slideshows are fast and effective -- they can run through photos of products, or if you're service oriented, it can slide through your basic services, such as "Accounting Services for you" as the first slide, followed by "Strategic Advice and Financial Expertise, " followed by a list of your services.
      • Company videos are increasingly being used on websites to show behind-the-scenes stories of businesses, products, and services. You can upload them to sites like Youtube, which will offer them on their website and generate more traffic to your site.
      • Photo galleries are pages that have thumbnails of your products, and when you click on those thumbnails, the larger image pops up to see details, including specs and prices.
      • Special Effects like flash and Javascript can inject movement, but please please please use them sparingly. Make them subtle. These effects, when taken too far, can be overwhelming and take the eye away from your message.
Need help with multimedia? Give us a call at WebHub Design. We'd be glad to help. Call 904-461-8744 or e-mail us at info@webhubdesign.com.

      The Problem with Blogging

Don’t blog? You’re not alone. Small businesses want to blog, but quickly realize it’s too much work, they don’t have adequate resources to do it, and regular day-to-day business takes precedence.

Most of all, businesses are easily frozen to do nothing in the face of a world that has to learn all the different social media marketing.

Even Fortune 1000 companies seem to have trouble, according to Blog2Print’s recent survey:
      • 70 percent of surveyed large organizations’ CMOs believe that blogging is "part of the cost of doing business today"
      •  30 percent believe blogs are too much work or don’t see the ROI for the effort required.
